There are a lot of specific types of environmental remediation methods.
Fremont, CA: While having an environmental issue at your worksite or workplace is troubling, a broad spectrum of contamination situations is remediable. There are two general types of environmental remediation in reference to where treatment mechanisms are utilized:

While you can consider ex-situ and in-situ technologies as two environmental remediation techniques, those are categories. There are a lot of specific types of environmental remediation methods, as you can notice in this abridged list:
1. Activated carbon-supported technology
In situ soil and groundwater remediation needs a method that presents activated carbon (AC)-based amendments. Amendments generally used incorporate bioremediation, ISCO(in situ chemical oxidation), and ISCR(in situ chemical reduction).
2. Bioreactors
Biological procedures are employed to remediate groundwater by means of that in-situ form of remediation.
3. Biowall
Another common type of environmental remediation, this permeable reactive barrier (PRB), is an in-situ procedure that treats groundwater through biological methods.
4. Bioremediation – metabolic
In a probe for carbon and energy, microbes lower and oxidize metabolites. A cofactor or enzyme is developed and utilized for decontamination with cometabolism bioremediation.
5. Electrokinetic-strengthened remediation
This type of environmental remediation presents an electrical current to extract contaminants by prompting ions to drive within the subsurface.
6. Environmental dredging
If sediment is under polluted water, you can withdraw it, treat it, and/or move it away with environmental dredging.
7. Environmental fracturing
This type of environmental remediation is generally employed to grow the efficiency of soil vapor extraction (SVE), in situ bioremediation, in situ chemical oxidation/reduction (ISCO/ISCR), pump & treat (P&T), and other principal technologies. Environmental fracturing institutes or raises openings in soil or bedrock to improve groundwater and soil cleanup efficacy.
8. Excavation and off-site disposal
Off-site, permitted disposal facilities can take care of contaminated material if you transport it to them.
9. Groundwater circulating wells
A circulation pattern is introduced to groundwater for this subsurface remediation method. Groundwater passes through a screened section into a well. After that, it is pumped into another screened section and reenters the aquifer.
10. Groundwater pump & treat
This technique initiates by pumping contaminated non-aqueous phase liquid (NAPL) or groundwater out of the subsurface. Above ground, it is treated and then released.
