Environmental Business Review: Specials Magazine

Juan Gabriel Aguiriano Nalda, Group Head of Marketing and Sustainability at Kerry, has built his leadership career across multiple sectors, including fibres and polymers, specialty chemicals and complex B2B environments. These early experiences shaped a core leadership belief that continues to guide his work today: long-term performance is achieved by connecting robust strategy with a strong, values-driven culture. A defining milestone in his career was his tenure as Vice President and General Manager of Kerry’s European Taste & Nutrition business. During a period of significant transformation, he helped sharpen the portfolio’s focus on sustainability while strengthening alignment between commercial and innovation teams. This closer integration played a key role in lifting business performance from the bottom to the top quartile within 18 months. Since 2019, Aguiriano Nalda has served as Group Head of Sustainability, where he has been closely involved in co-creating Kerry’s Beyond the Horizon sustainability strategy. His work focuses on embedding sustainability into everyday decision-making, capital allocation and innovation development across the organisation. The strategy is anchored in Kerry’s 2030 ambition to reach two billion people with sustainable nutrition, supported by science-based targets and responsible sourcing commitments. Together, these experiences have shaped a leadership style that is purpose-driven, grounded in metrics and built on partnership.

Top Carbon Accounting Software in Europe 2026

AI is expanding what sustainability consultants and software can do, while policy changes are shrinking the group of companies legally forced to use those services. In response, sustainability consultants are increasingly helping clients move beyond compliance reporting toward carbon insight, risk conversations and reduction planning. Carbon+Alt+Delete operates at the intersection of this shift. Through its SaaS platform, it helps sustainability consultants measure, manage and reduce the climate impact for their clients. It tailors actionable strategies for emissions reduction and provides a holistic view of an organisation’s impact through Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 footprint calculations. “Our AI integration is creating new ways for sustainability consultants to work with detailed carbon data and generate deeper analysis,” says Kenneth Van den Bergh, CEO. Turning Carbon Data into Actionable Insights As sustainability consultants adapt to changing client expectations, AI has become an important tool shaping how carbon data is analysed and applied. Carbon+Alt+Delete approaches this with an ‘experiment, learn and build’ approach. It recently launched a Model Context Protocol (MCP) connector, which allows users to bridge large language models (LLM) like Claude, ChatGPT and Co-Pilot with the SaaS platform..

Mold Remediation Services

Mold is an invisible enemy. It arrives unannounced and refuses to leave quietly—an insidious force that plagues countless households across the world, stealing safety and tranquility from families. Yet, even this persistent intruder can be defeated. Pure Maintenance, a leader in mold remediation, is the fearless commander in the battle against mold, deploying bold strategies and innovative technologies to secure victory for families. The company sets new standards in mold remediation with its proven expertise and the trust of strong partners. Its patented technology, the VaPURE system, allows mold remediation providers to effectively eradicate mold at the source swiftly, efficiently, and without the need for expensive demolition. “Our advanced technology eliminates mold without demolition, changing how the world tackles this invisible threat,” says Brandon Adams, CEO. The Game-Changing VaPURE System Pure Maintenance recognized the significant limitations of traditional mold remediation methods, where sledgehammers and axes were smashed into mold-infested walls—a messy, invasive, and expensive approach that barely scratched the surface of the problem. Seeing through these decades-old misconceptions, the company formulated its magnum opus, VaPURE system. This innovative system uses a dry fog of sub-6-micron particles, small enough to penetrate every corner of a building, including areas behind walls and beneath floors where mold can hide, seeking out and destroying mold cells at their root—without demolition or disruption.

Environmental Engineering Consulting Services

Expertise in environmental services has always been important, but today and in the future, it will become even more important for clients to choose a provider with the right mix of technical expertise, knowledgeable staff and advanced technology. After spending some time talking with Mike Hagemeister, P.E., national director of environmental services at Terracon, it’s clear the company is positioned to lead. Founded in 1965, Terracon has grown steadily and strategically into a leading environmental, geotechnical, facilities, and materials firm, now with over 180 offices and 1,500 environmental professionals across the U.S. However, size and scale are only a snapshot of its impact. Beneath the surface lies Terracon’s identity as an employee-owned firm and a company that sees its work as being at the intersection of the natural and the built world—a point Hagemeister refers to often. “When you look at who we are as a company,” he says, “It really starts with the fact that we’re employee-owned. That ownership means every decision we make matters—not just for our clients, but for everyone who works here.” This shared sense of responsibility—both to one another and to the world we build in—enables Terracon to deliver comprehensive solutions across industries while staying aligned with its environmental and community-centered goals. Engineering Urban Renewal Terracon’s portfolio includes work in nearly every sector—from transportation and infrastructure to commercial real estate, energy, and manufacturing. Yet the common thread running through all its projects is the attention to detail on environmental stewardship and long-term community benefit. One example is Terracon’s work with Parks for Downtown Dallas, a nonprofit organization focused on increasing green space in the heart of one of America’s fastest-growing cities. The organization had a bold vision: reclaim underutilized urban lots and transform them into public parks. The goal was to create recreational areas and vibrant, sustainable gathering places that could improve the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.

The Next Chapter of Environmental Accountability

Sustainability is no longer just about meeting reporting requirements. Across Europe, organisations are taking a closer look at how environmental performance affects resilience, operational risk and long-term growth. In this edition of Environmental Business Review Europe, we spotlight the companies and leaders helping turn climate goals into practical business action.

Among the organisations highlighted in this issue, Carbon+Alt+Delete, recognised as the Top Carbon Accounting Software in Europe 2026, reflects this shift. As expectations around carbon transparency continue to rise, the company is helping sustainability consultants move beyond compliance and towards more strategic conversations about risk, performance and emissions reduction.

Its platform combines carbon accounting, AI-powered analysis and climate risk insights to help organisations better understand their environmental impact and make more informed decisions. By turning complex emissions data into actionable insights, Carbon+Alt+Delete enables consultants to deliver greater value while helping clients navigate an increasingly climateconscious business landscape.

This issue also features perspectives from leaders driving sustainability across different sectors. Eduardo Nunes de Lima, Environmental, Social and Climate Change Risk Manager at Santander CIB, discusses the growing importance of environmental and social risk management in sustainable finance. He explains how frameworks such as the Equator Principles can support decarbonisation efforts while helping organisations manage wider environmental and social impacts responsibly.

Kenneth Riis Jensen, Vice President, Global Sustainability, Road division, DSV - Global Transport and Logistics shares lessons from the transport sector’s journey towards decarbonisation. His perspective is a reminder that progress rarely comes from one big breakthrough. It comes from practical solutions, strong partnerships and a commitment to keep moving forward.

Together, the stories in this edition highlight a common theme. Real sustainability progress happens when ideas are put into action, people work together and small steps are taken consistently over time. We invite you to explore these perspectives and see how organisations across Europe are turning sustainability ambitions into meaningful results.
